    Growing the seed of love

    May 18, 2025

I’m the sum of everything I’ve done – the choices I’ve made, the mistakes I’ve learned from, and the experiences that have shaped me.

Today, I choose to live in harmony with my body, soul, and spirit

I choose to embrace solitude – to learn, to understand, and to know myself better.

I choose to love myself, to forgive the past, and to accept who I am – as I am.

    Breathing in love.

    Breathing out love.

    BOOK NOTES

My 5 Favourite quotes for self-love from The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

    April 22, 2025

    1. “Tell yourself how wonderful you are, how great you are, and how much you love yourself”.
    2. “All the sadness and dramma you have lived in your life was rooted in making assumptions and taking things personally.”
    3. “Respect your body, enjoy your body, love your body, feed, clean, and heal your body. Exercise and do what makes your body feel good.”
    4. “When you practice giving love to every part of your body, you plant seeds of love in your mind. When they grow, you will love, honor, and respect your body immensely.”
    5. “If you are impeccable with your words, if you don’t take anything personally, if you don’t make assumptions, if you always do your best, then you are going to have a beautiful life. You are going to control your life 100%.”

Today, I choose to learn the basics.

    April 21, 2025

Today, I choose to return to the basics.

    To relearn how to breathe.

    To learn how to rest.

    To learn how to listen.

To learn to speak with care.

    To learn how to observe.

To learn how to slow down.

    To learn how to love.

To learn how to reconnect with nature.

To learn how to understand myself better.

And today, I’m taking my first class – learning how to breathe again.

    Yen’s painting

    Watercolour periwinkle

    March 16, 2025

I don’t know how far I’ll go, but one thing is for sure: “If I don’t go, I’ll get nowhere.”

This beautiful purple lesser periwinkle (Vinca minor)was simple, but capturing the light and shadow was a bit tricky for me to paint.

I freehanded this painting directly onto the paper. Normally, I sketch first and then trace it onto my watercolour for more complicated subject. The bud was a bit tricky to draw and I had to erase a lot while working on it.

I applied the first layer matching the lightest colour that I could see.

Then, I added more layers, gradually building from light to dark, layer by layer, until I was satisfied with the tonal range.

I lost some of the lightest tones, so I used white gouache to add the tiny details I had missed.

The key to painting in layers is to wait for the paint to dry before adding the next one.

I had a good time to paint this flower, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Thank you so much!
